# Customize Your Google App Experience with Settings

> Explore every setting in the Google app — appearance, language, keyboard shortcuts, privacy controls, and workspace preferences.

The Settings area lets you personalize and control how the app works for you. Access it by clicking your avatar in the top-right corner and selecting **Settings**, or pressing `G then S`.

## Appearance

Change how the app looks:

* **Theme** — Choose **Light**, **Dark**, or **System** (follows your OS setting).
* **Accent color** — Select a highlight color for buttons and active states.
* **Compact mode** — Reduce spacing to fit more on screen.

To update: go to **Settings → Appearance**.

## Language and region

* **Language** — Select your preferred interface language.
* **Date format** — Choose between MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY, or YYYY-MM-DD.
* **Time zone** — Set your local time zone so due dates and timestamps display correctly.
* **First day of week** — Set whether your week starts on Sunday or Monday.

To update: go to **Settings → Language & Region**.

## Keyboard shortcuts

The app comes with a set of built-in keyboard shortcuts. To view them all, press `?` anywhere in the app.

You can also customize shortcuts:

1. Go to **Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts**.
2. Click any shortcut to reassign it.
3. Press the new key combination and click **Save**.

## Privacy controls

Control what others can see about you:

* **Profile visibility** — Set whether your profile is visible to all workspace members or only admins.
* **Online status** — Show or hide your active/online indicator.
* **Activity feed** — Choose whether your item edits appear in the workspace activity feed.

To update: go to **Settings → Privacy**.

## Workspace settings (Admins & Owners)

If you are a workspace admin or owner, you have access to additional settings:

| Workspace name and logo        | Settings → Workspace → General               |
| Invite and remove members      | Settings → Workspace → Members               |
| Role and permission management | Settings → Workspace → Roles                 |
| Data export                    | Settings → Workspace → Data & Privacy        |
| Danger zone (delete workspace) | Settings → Workspace → General → Danger Zone |

<Warning>Deleting your workspace is permanent and cannot be undone. Export your data before proceeding.</Warning>

## Resetting to defaults

To reset all personal settings to their defaults:

1. Go to **Settings → General**.
2. Scroll to the bottom and click **Reset to Defaults**.
3. Confirm the action.

This resets appearance, language, and notification preferences. It does not affect your projects, items, or workspace data.
